Important Announcement

Over the next several months, GMRS Freedom Nation will be implementing significant improvements designed to increase network security and improve node management.

While most changes will happen behind the scenes, users may notice new registration procedures, software updates, and occasional maintenance windows.

Upcoming Changes

Registration Server

The network is moving to a registration server. This will make securing your node number and the network much easier.

Updated Node Software - Ver 1.7.0

A completely updated software release is being rolled out across the network. This update includes performance improvements, security enhancements, bug fixes, and support for future capabilities.

Node Software Updater

No longer will you need to reinstall a new image for every software update.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I need to re-register?

No, you will need to send an e-mail to support@gmrsfreedomnation.com with a list of the node numbers that will need passwords. Please inform us if a node is a mobile node and only list nodes you plan on connecting to the network.

Will my node stop working?

Yes, after the sunset date without the updated software, you will not be able to connect. Detailed instructions will be posted well in advance, along with help from the admins to aid with the transition.

Why is this change necessary?

Moving to a registration server improves network security. The software update improves node management and use.

What if I dont run a G.F.N image (T.G.L.N, N.E.G or others)

If you have a node number from another network, an admin will contact you to help with the transition.

When will the change happen?

TBD. Right now, the software updates are being finalized. When it is ready, the switchover to the registration server will be slow, and a sunset date for the old node software will be announced.

Right now, we are getting nodes from other networks set up first.
